(University of Copenhagen): International PhD course: Food and health policy analysis using home-scan data
The aim of the course is to work the course participants through the main issues related to preparing home-scan data or other larger datasets for analysis and address the methodologies applied to perform food and health policy analysis using home-scan data. The central themes of the course are the theoretical foundation of and the methodologies and techniques applied within four areas; 1) Preparing data in appropriate ways for analysis. 2) Handling problems related to self-selection and attrition in relation to self-reported data 3) Handling econometric problems in relation to analysis food policy and health policy issues using micro data, and 4) Validation and interpretation of results from analysis using home-scan data. Graphic representations are a great way to communicate complex research topics in an understandable and lively way. They convey clarity and provide a quick overview and are therefore extremely helpful both for the elaboration and the presentation of complex content and ideas. In this seminar you will learn best-practice techniques that you can use on various media such as paper, whiteboards or flipcharts. (InGrA): What the heck is tenure-track? (Online, 9 am -12 pm)
In the German academic system, Tenure-Track is a relatively new concept. With a tenure-track position, one gets the opportunity to immediately transition to a permanent position when successfully completing the probationary period (known as the tenure-track phase). The majority of tenure-track positions comes along with a professorship; less common and known are lecturer or researcher positions with tenure-track.

(Goethe-Universität): Entrepreneurship as Driver of Economic and Social Change: Insights from Eastern Europe, South Caucasus, and Central Asia
This DAAD workshop takes place in Tbilisi, Georgia. It aims to generate interdisciplinary exchange and communication on the forms of entrepreneurship in the mentioned emerging economies. Abstract deadline is 15 May 2023. The workshop is fully funded by the German Academic Exchange Service, which includes costs of travel, accommodation, and catering during the workshop. Workshop proceedings are going to be published either in a special issue with an international academic journal or in an edited volume with an international publisher. (InGrA): Academic Writing for Natural Scientists
The interactive workshop aims at improving non-native English speakers’ skills in writing scientific texts in English and to permanently upgrade the linguistic quality of their English writing. Participants will be equipped with a textbook written by the trainer that covers all the features introduced during the sessions, they will have ample opportunity to ask individual questions, and they will receive immediate feedback on their own writing.

(iDiv): Summer school 2023 - Integrating ecological and economic theory for modelling biodiversity change
The German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig will conduct its seventh summer school in Leipzig, Germany. The summer school is aimed at early career scientists (3rd year doctoral researchers & early postdocs) from around the world with an overall interest in ecological and economic modeling. (Wageningen School of Social Sciences): Assessing Economic Policies Using the Real Options Methodology
The objective of the course is to introduce the origins of the quasi option value and real option values, to teach the methods most commonly used (discrete methods such as decision trees; continuous time, continuous state models using stochastic processes; Itó calculus), and to discuss and practice various applications including non-renewable resource use, technology adoption, climate change, forestry, and food- and bio-safety.
